besides our renovations the past few months, I’ve been focusing on the entry to the home these days. After all, it’s your very first perception when you open the door. the most difficult thing for me — now that we’ve opened up the primary level — is that the sightline from the entry goes all the method to the back of the house. So every decision I make in the living room, kitchen area as well as back sitting space all have to be cohesive or decidedly contrasting.

Since we don’t have furniture or kitchen area cupboards yet, I’ve been consumed with the lighting. should everything match? What space should be the focal point? The other difficulty is that we purposefully decided not to do a great deal of recessed lights — we aren’t big fans of them — however it makes it even more difficult to discover fixtures that work together as well as likewise provide adequate lighting. To make it more difficult, I like so many different styles of lighting. Here’s a sample of what I’ve been fancying for the home however we’re still not sure what works together…

Beautiful brass pendant from Oji & Design.

Cool sculptural Spica Light by Iacoli & McAllister.

I like the matte surface as well as the gold glow on the inside of these pendants from Oliver Yaphe.

A classic! I believe the Nelson pendant with style Within reach will provide off great light.

The Skygarden S1 pendant from Flos — likewise with style Within reach — has a gorgeous plaster garden on the inside.

These West Elm semi-flush mounts are a fantastic cost as well as will blend well into the white ceiling.

This Thomas O’Brien hanging lamp from Circa illumination is extremely handsome.

I’ve always liked mercury glass as well as we’re seeing a great deal more of it lately. this from West Elm has an industrial edge.

An ever-popular schoolhouse light from Rejuvenation. I believe these look fantastic in kitchens as well as are a nice alternate to the tiring flush-mount.

Mitä nyt? I have all these styles that I like however what will work in our house? Being an art director, I did some test mock-ups so I might get a visual of what different choices would look like. like I said, I have that difficult sightline down the house. right here are three choices I tried — looking with the kitchen area (left) as well as looking from the entryway to the kitchen area as well as back of the home (right).

1. White + black

2. White + brass

3. All white

I believe we’ll wait up until the stairs are finished, the kitchen area is in as well as perhaps some furniture is in location before making a final decision. however I would like to understand what you believe works best! comment below.
